Information Visitors Provide
Terms Entered in Search Tools
A query entered in a search box passes to the third-party provider that runs the selected tool. Spencer County Recent Arrests does not keep a separate log of those search terms on its own systems. The provider decides how it processes the query under its privacy policy.
Messages and Correspondence
An email or contact message may include a name, address, and any facts the sender chooses to provide. We use that material to read and answer the message and may retain it as needed for follow-up. Correspondence is not shared outside the organization unless a valid legal requirement calls for disclosure.
Data Collected by Technology
Web servers and service providers can receive routine technical details when a page is opened. Those details help deliver the site and diagnose faults. They may include:
- an Internet Protocol address;
- browser, device, and operating-system details;
- pages viewed and approximate visit duration;
- the referring page, when supplied; and
- date, time, and basic request logs.
Cookies and Similar Tools
Cookies may support site functions, traffic measurement, analytics, and advertising. A browser can block or erase cookies, though some functions may then work differently. Advertising providers may use their own technology under their own notices.
Reasons We Use Data
Information may be used to operate and secure the site, route a requested search, answer a message, measure which Spencer County resources are useful, fix technical errors, and support advertising. It is not used to create an official arrest file.
The site points to separate systems maintained by the Spencer County Sheriff, Shelby County Detention Center, Kentucky courts, Kentucky Department of Corrections, VINELink, and federal agencies. Their custody and record data remain under their control.
Linked Sites Set Their Rules
Following a link to the Spencer County Sheriff's Office, the Shelby County Jailer, or the Kentucky Offender Online Lookup places the visitor on a different service. That destination's privacy terms, collection practices, and security measures then apply. The same rule covers search partners, analytics services, and advertising networks.
Requests sent to Kentucky public agencies are governed by the applicable agency policy and Kentucky's Open Records Act, including KRS 61.872. That law does not make this private site a government records custodian.
Limited Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Data may still be disclosed where needed to run a chosen service or comply with law. Recipients may include:
- a search partner receiving a submitted query;
- analytics providers that measure visits;
- advertising networks that deliver or assess ads; and
- law-enforcement or government authorities acting under a valid legal order.
Security Has Practical Limits
Reasonable safeguards are used for a public website. Even so, no internet transmission, device, or storage method is completely secure. We cannot promise that unauthorized access, loss, or misuse will never occur.
This Site Is for Adults
Spencer County Recent Arrests is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly seek personal data from minors. A parent or guardian who believes a minor sent information may request review and deletion through the Get in Touch page.
Privacy Requests and Choices
Where applicable law provides the right, a visitor may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information controlled by this site, or object to certain processing. A request may require identity verification. These choices do not reach records kept by the Spencer County Sheriff, Shelby County Detention Center, a Kentucky court, the Department of Corrections, or another linked operator. Contact that source about its records.
Updates to This Notice
Practices and service providers may change. We may revise this notice to reflect those changes, and the new version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.
